Fiji Natural Artesian Water
Friday, August 24, 2007 at 6:22PM
From the first time I saw the distinctive square bottle in high school, I loathed Fiji's bottled water.

I can't help but smirk every time I think about the overpriced liquid. I can't stand it for two reasons. First, I don't like the bottled water craze - it's wasted money, most of it is simply filtered tap water, and the production/transportation of such a dense substance is horrible for the environment (exacerbated by the public's broad lack of recycling in this country). Second, the marketing of fancy "high end" waters meant to be somehow more special than the filtered stuff drives me wild. It's advertising at it's worst.
Well today I decided I wanted to try it out. Go ahead, be pissed at me for contributing to the problem. Really, I just needed an excuse to get cash back at Walgreen's, and I hit the bottle.
Is it good? Sure. It tastes clean, mostly neutral, but not dead. Is it worth a dollar for half a liter? Of course not. It's no better than Deer Park, or the stuff I pour out of my Brita pitcher.
I still snicker about this stuff. It's just a little bit at myself now.
